The Early Development camps are designed to attract players (Ages 7-10) who have a strong athletic and technical foundation and who show a love for the sport at this early age. These camps are limited to 24 players – 12 Boys and 12 Girls – who are considered to be proficient in the basic stroke parameters and who are training in the appropriate equipment (i.e. modified equipment/proper court sizes and balls). There will be four camps in the Series – The Expert Rallyer, The Solid Server & Ridiculous Returner, The Net Dominator and The All Court Player. These camps will be run with orange balls on 60 foot courts with a coach and parent educational component at each camp. The education components will be constructed by one of our USTA NorCal Lead Coaches who is very familiar with the content and can answer any questions parents may have regarding the program.
A parent can register their child for a camp if their child isn’t invited, however, please keep in mind that registering your child does not guarantee that the player will get selected for the camp but it will let us know that you are interested in participating. To increase your chances of getting selected for the EDC series, make sure to participate in the EDC Tournament (for EDC series consideration)!
Criteria for selection include but are not limited to EDC Tournament participation, Coaches Commission recommendation, other tournament results, orange-ball pathway points, player video, and PDC Combine participation. Selections are based on collaboration between National Player Development staff, sectional staff, as well as the NorCal Coaches Commission.
Players can submit a video to be considered for an EDC selection. Please upload a simple 3 minute video to YouTube – of all shots as well as some point play and send the YouTube link to Sofia Donlevy for Coaches Commission review.
