NorCal Juniors in the National Spotlight

Congratulations to the juniors players that represented NorCal in some of the most prestigious juniors tournaments in the world!

Michaela Gordon of Los Altos Hills played in the Wimbledon girls’ singles and doubles draws. She advanced all the way to the quarterfinals of the singles draw for the second-straight year, defeating three top-50 ranked juniors opponents from around the world, and made it to the second round of the doubles draw with partner Claire Liu of Thousand Oaks! Sam Riffice of Roseville swept the boys’ 18 singles and doubles titles at the USTA National Clay Court Championships hosted by the City of Delray Beach, Fla. He was seeded first in the singles draw and teamed up with Vasil Kirkov to form the No. 2 seed in the doubles draw. Riffice was also selected to the 2015 Team USA Untitled-1Boys’ National Junior Team, a training program designed to give America’s best young players opportunities to train together during the summer and to compete against top junior competition around the world. Austen Huang of Elk Grove also competed for a spot on the team in Boca Raton, Fla. Read the full release from USTA here.

CiCi Bellis of Atherton competed at the Stockton Challenger and was seeded fourth overall in the tournament. She, along with Michaela, was named to the 2015 Team USA Girls’ National Junior Team back in May. CiCi and Michaela are currently playing in the FSP Gold River Challenger, with CiCi seeded third overall in the main draw as the highest-seeded American player! She will also be competing at the Bank of the West Classic Aug. 3-9 in Stanford, Calif.
