Welcome back to USTA NorCal’s Player Development Honor Roll! Each month, we are going to be highlighting the successes of our NorCal Juniors! Here’s a look at some of the great performances from Team NorCal in January:

NorCal juniors started 2017 with some great results at the 2017 USTA National Winter Championships as two players took home the title in their age division, three players finished third, one took four place, and Marcus McDaniel earned the sportsmanship award in the Boys 16s Division. Vivian Ovrootsky from San Jose, CA, swept the singles and doubles draws in the Girls 12s Division. She teamed up with fellow NorCal player Anushka Khuneand, from Sacramento, CA, to win the doubles title. Carolyn Campana also won the doubles draw, in the Girls 18’s division, pairing with Ivana A. Corley from Albuquerque, NM.

Congratulations to Jenson Brooksby and Sara Choy who finished 3rd in the Boys and Girls 18s Singles draws respectively. Aryan Chaudhary had a very successful tournament as well, taking home third place in the Boys 14s Singles draw, winning a hard fought playoff match 7-5 6-7(2) 6-1. For a full recap, click here.

He then went on to win two matches in the singles draw at Les Petits As in Tarbes, France, and reached the quarterfinals in the doubles draw of the tournament. Les Petits As saw the best players from 45 different nations and is considered the strongest 14s event in the world.
